Start with sizing
Before adhesive, match every press-on to the natural nail from sidewall to sidewall. A slightly large nail can often be filed; a too-small nail usually sits under tension.
Width is only one part of fit. Compare the underside curve, the length you can use comfortably, and whether the edge sits on nail rather than skin.
A sizing kit is useful for petite, wide, curved, flat, or between-size nail beds. It turns fit into a clear choice instead of a guess.
Prepare the nail surface
- Wash and fully dry hands.
- Keep lotion, oil, and hair products away before application.
- Gently push back the cuticle area if your product instructions call for it.
- Use the prep method supplied with the adhesive or set.
- Lay nails out in order before opening glue or tabs.
Choose glue tabs or glue
Glue tabs are better when flexible wear, easier removal, and reuse matter. Nail glue is the stronger option when longer hold matters.
Do not treat adhesive choice as an afterthought. It decides whether the set is for a dinner, a weekend, or a longer stretch of daily use.
Press with even pressure
Place the press-on close to the cuticle area without sitting on skin, then press evenly for the full setting time recommended by the product.
Uneven pressure creates tiny gaps. Those gaps are where water, oil, and friction begin to work.
Protect the first hour
The first hour is not a photoshoot-only detail. Avoid soaking, heavy water exposure, oil, and using nail tips as tools while the bond settles.
Use finger pads to type, open packages, or fasten jewelry. That one habit can matter as much as the adhesive.
